SedonaKind Honors our Teachers Teacher Appreciation Day
Members of the SedonaKind Kindness in Schools Committee had two wonderful days delivering gift bags to all the teachers at West Sedona and Big Park Schools last week. “We had filled the bags at our last general meeting in April, and intended to give them out during Teacher Appreciation Week in May” said chairperson Gloria Woody. “But with the walk out looming on April 26th, we all decided our teachers could probably use a little TLC and support right now”.
So on Tuesday the 26th, gift bags were delivered to every teacher at Big Park, with Principal Debbie Jones personally escorting the KIS team to every classroom. Then on Wednesday the 27th, the regular day for the KIS team to go to West Sedona, the team spread out throughout the campus, and delivered gift bags and hugs to every teacher there. “You would have thought we were giving them a million dollars”, said KIS member Constance Loef. “Every teacher was so surprised and touched, not only by the beautiful little gift bags, but by the show of support. And the kids were delighted to see their teachers honored in this way, and they all joined in the applause and high spirits”. Each bag contained a handmade card, a Kindness Charm, two gift cards to Starbucks and Safeway, and a delicious KIND BAR. “We loved creating a special card for our teachers, which we put the finishing touches on at our general meeting. Our Charmers made the 48 beautiful charms at a session at Alma de Sedona, and the wonderful KIND BAR company, which has been so supportive of us for the past two years donated the bars” said Sandy Brandvold. SedonaKind has dedicated much of their efforts this year to supporting our teachers, and this project made our hearts sing. We’re looking forward to finding more ways to help, and give these true heroes the love and support they deserve.
