Board Of Directors

Sandy Brandvold

I grew up in a small town in Oregon where most residents either worked for Boise Cascade Lumber Company or Caterpillar Tractor Company.  I mention this as it was the foundation for everything to follow in my career in homebuilding.  Being a partner of constructing barns, fences, henhouses, or birdhouses with my Dad on our farm made it an easy transition into my chosen field.  Seems crazy, but I love the smell of a lumber drop and assisting architects with interiors made me come alive.  We made the move from Oregon to Arizona in 1985.  Having just retired in the fall of 2021, I am now spending more time with my husband, Tom, of 50 years.  We have one daughter, the best son-in-law possible, and three grandchildren that live on Maui.  My passion is now creating cards and gifts to give to all the wonderful people in my life; and spreading Kindness as far as I can.

After a very successful career as a Vice President with Motorola, I retired early to enjoy the good life in Sedona…with no regrets.   Moving here from Oregon 16 years ago, I have served as a volunteer in a variety of roles including the Sedona Police Department, Verde Valley Caregivers, as a Board member and as President of The Sedona Women, the Chamber of Commerce Visitor Center, finishing Loving Bowls for the Sedona Art Center and creating Kindness Charms.  I wake up every morning in this beautiful place and say wow.  I’m happily married to my husband Cliff.  Life is good in Sedona…actually, it’s very good!!

I'm an 14 year resident of Sedona, having moved from New England and snowy Minnesota to sunny AZ with much joy! My degree and career was in music and theater, and then in my 50's I fell in love with residents in nursing homes and became a Recreation Director . In MN I was the director of Genesis II for Women, Vice President of Neville Watson, a Training company, and on the Board of my local Library. Since coming to Sedona, I've been serving on the Boards of the Friends of the Library,  Cornucopia Community Advocates, Vice President of The Sedona Women, and the chair of the Sedona WaterWise Alliance.  SedonaKind is an absolute joy to be involved with, and such a privilege. Aside from my 45 year marriage to the best guy in the world, this is the best thing ever!!!!!

After raising two great daughters and getting them to and through college, my husband and I moved to Sedona and have lived here permanently for the past 15 years. I grew up in Central California and went to college at Fresno State University and majored in Music and minored in Business. I became a Paramedic in 1985 and worked in Emergency Medical field in Monterey County, CA where I met and married my husband Brian. Some of the organizations I have been a part of include the Yavapai Food Council, the Wounded Warrior Project, and Kindness Charms by the Women of Sedona. The organization that has prepared me the most for the position of Treasurer for SedonaKind is The Sedona Women, where I served as Treasurer for many years. I work part time for the Sedona International Film Festival, and other favorites in my life include hobbies such as greeting card creations, gourd and egg carving, playing pickleball, music, hiking, fly fishing and travel. I’m very happy and honored to on the founding floor of SedonaKind and I cherish the friends I have here in Sedona who help promote kindness in our community and around the world.

I am a New York native transported to Sedona, AZ in 2000.  Soon after arriving I realized that my dedication to the task at hand and my organizational skills, fine- tuned while Director of Corporate Events at Computer Associates, would serve me well in volunteering in this beautiful community.  I served as KidZone Chairwoman for the Sedona Arts Festival for 6 years and joined the Trauma Intervention Programs of Arizona (TIP) in February 2007. My experience and training as a TIP National Trainer, made me uniquely qualified to jointly develop the Advocate Training for the Arizona Crisis Team (ACT).  I served on the TIP Board from 2011 to 2017, at which time I joined the ACT Board.  After all these years I am thrilled to belong to such an amazing organization where my passion – crafts – can be put to good use!  My husband Harry & I have been together for 38 years and have two wonderful sons, the best daughters-in-law and 6 amazing grandchildren.

After a long and rewarding career at Kraft Foods as Sr. Director of Customer Supply Chain and a stint at ConAgra Foods as VP of Customer Service, we retired to Sedona. Our Sedona story is a familiar one.  In 2007 Jay, my wonderful husband, and I vacationed in Sedona.  We had been looking for a small town, in a beautiful area, with lots of hiking, within two hours of a major airport.  Well by the end of the week we were looking at homes.  By October of 2007 we were residents of this beautiful and extraordinary community and we have never looked back.  In addition to my career experience I have chaired the Kraft Sales Diversity Council, been on the boards of several home owners associations, on the board of the Marsh Creek Women's Association, The Sedona Arts Center and The Sedona Women.  I have been constantly blessed with the kindness of others in each of these endeavors and am honored to be a part of SedonaKind.
