March 2018 - The Ripples of Kindness
I once met a woman who shared this special story about herself with me, and I want to share it with you.
Some years ago Nancy was offered a terrific job in a distant city, so good that she couldn’t refuse. One big problem, though. Due to housing restrictions, she would not be able to take her beloved dog Max with her. So she decided she needed to find the most wonderful family she could, to adopt her sweet and much loved dog. After many weeks of searching, she found just the right people with a little girl who was thrilled with the thought of having Max join the family. After a week’s trial stay, everyone knew that Max had found his next home.
So the woman moved to the city and after settling in for a few weeks, she wrote the family a letter asking how Max was doing. This is the letter she received in return.
Dear Nancy, this is what happened to us a week ago. Our neighbors told us that our little girl Patricia had been playing in the street, when they saw a car speeding toward her. They ran to try and grab her, when seemingly out of nowhere they saw Max ( your amazing gift to us ) run, jump and hurl himself at our precious child. He knocked her backwards, and out of the way of the speeding car. Our daughter is fine, but we are heartbroken to say that Max was severely injured and soon died of his injuries. My husband and I are profoundly grateful to you for finding us and then trusting your dear friend Max to us. You and Max saved our daughter’s life. We can never thank you enough. To be kind is to be Divine.
In Divine appreciation and gratitude,
Sarah, John and Patricia
