Season of Kindness 2021
For the 6th year, the City of Sedona has proclaimed November 13th as Sedona Kindness Day, and for the 6th year, SedonaKind found ways to fully embrace our mission in what we are calling A SEASON OF KINDNESS. This day has been celebrated around the globe for over a decade as World Kindness Day, and extending that day to include the remainder of the year fits the mission of SedonaKind perfectly. Mission Joy - Finding Happiness in Troubled Times
The Sedona International Film Festival was proud to partner with SedonaKind to present the encore of the multiple award-winning film “Mission: Joy — Finding Happiness in Troubled Times” on Sunday, Nov. 14 as part of the Sedona Kindness Day celebration. There were two shows at 1 and 4 p.m. at the Mary D. Fisher Theatre. The ticket price was a donation of $10 with proceeds to benefit the charity work and projects of SedonaKind. Both shows were sold out and the event was extremely successful. We thank the Sedona International Film Festival and the Sedona community for all the support.
Hats & Scarves
|
We started off our ‘Season of Kindness’ by distributing over 900 knitted hats to the children at West Sedona, Oak Creek and the Sedona Charter Schools. Our fabulous group of knitters have worked all year creating these one of a kind hats, and they were given to them by their teachers on Kindness Day.
The teachers and staff also received a lovely gift. |
Gratitude Trees |
|
Our Season of Kindness culminated in the appearance of our signature Gratitude Trees sprouting up all over town durning the week of Thanksgiving through the end of the year.
.
The trees were all different, some are traditional Holiday trees, some were made of beautiful local Manzanita branches, some were painted on walls. They were hung with silver wooden hearts, which you can write on and say what makes you grateful.
They were placed at the following locations.

Blessing Bags
At Thanksgiving, we all count our blessings, and SedonaKind, under the leadership of Heather Molans, packed up 50 Blessing Bags and delivered them to local needy Veterans during this Season of Kindness. The contents of the bags have grown over the three years of this project, and this year included warm knitted hats (created by our amazing knitters!) and warm gloves. Bombas donated wonderful cozy socks, enough for 2 pairs in each bag,The bags also included a $10 gift card to MacDonald’s, personal grooming and hygiene products . A special handmade card created by Christine Schneider went in each bag, thanking each Veteran for his service. And there was a lot of love and gratitude inside each one.
Our mission at SedonaKind is “to encourage acts of kindness large and small, locally and around the world”. We know that every day brings an opportunity to create kindness, in fact our favorite quote is “ Be kind whenever possible. It is always possible “. But as the leaves begin to turn, we feel a welcome chill in the air, and as Thanksgiving approaches, we’re energized and empowered to create this special Season of Kindness for the community we love.
